About the directory

Sources and methodology

Understand EyeFellow source dates, programme identities, missing fields, funding notes and geographic groupings before comparing fellowship listings.

Source records and dates

Programme profiles link to the official sources supporting their details. Field updates record the source URL, retrieval date, captured content hash and the relevant source section in the review record. A capture hash records which content was used; it does not by itself prove a claim correct.

A source check date belongs to the cited source or reviewed facts. A page update or sitemap modification date may also reflect navigation, formatting or code changes. Neither means that all admissions facts were rechecked on that date.

Reading missing and contextual information

  • Duration: a fixed number of years and a variable or track-specific duration are stored separately. Extensions and research years are not automatically added to the core training length.
  • Positions: a listed capacity is not an annual intake or an available vacancy unless the source explicitly says so.
  • Applications: deadlines, opening dates, interview dates and start dates are kept distinct. A recurring date without a year does not establish an open intake.
  • Funding: amounts retain the published currency, period and date where stated. Text notes preserve conditions, funding gaps and unspecified amounts.
  • International applicants: citizenship restrictions, qualifications, medical registration, accepted visa categories and sponsorship are separate requirements.

“Not recorded” does not mean that a benefit is unavailable or a programme is closed. Use the cited source for the intended track and intake.

Programme and location identity

Tracks at the same institution remain separate when their official names or scope distinguish them. Reviewed institution and city aliases bring equivalent spellings together while preserving distinct locations, such as Rochester in New York and Rochester in Minnesota. Bangalore and Bengaluru are grouped under Bengaluru; the original programme location text can retain the source's spelling.

Continent groupings are separate from the directory's regional groupings. Mexico is in North America, while Asia includes the Asian countries in Asia-Pacific and the Middle East. Turkey remains grouped with Europe as a browsing convention consistent with the existing directory. Geographic groups do not change a programme's location.

Location combinations require multiple listed programmes. An identical country and city result uses one location hub. Browse continents or browse cities.
